Camila Verdeja is the founder of Gourmet Jr., a project that blends two passions: her family and gastronomy. Graduated in Economics, Mother of Santiago and Ogro the Dog, she enjoys a healthy lifestyle. Her interest over food came when she first met her husband, Marcos. When baby Santiago started eating, she turned her eyes to children’s nutrition. Camila fell in love with a whole new world and began getting creative with homemade baby food and how to build her child’s palate. Now all these ideas are here, to be shared.
Camila herself was a very picky eater, so she decided to raise her little one to be someone more open-minded about everything related to food. She invested some time to know more about baby feeding and then, started questioning how food was presented to babies. Camila realized that some rules were more related to culture than to nutricional issues. She talked to specialists, and continues to do so, every time she needs to clear some doubts and confirm any suspicion.
Gourmet Jr. was born from Camila’s understanding that feeding has a deep impact in our life, being associated to energy levels as well as longevity. On kids, it plays an even bigger role, since it’s the fuel for their developing bodies and learning capabilities, which, during childhood, are bigger than in any other stage of life. That’s why offering a wide variety of good food becomes so important.Food with a mood.
A gourmet recipe is nothing more than a great combination of flavors, that may be quite simple and comforting. And if it can be prepared in a easy way, what is already good becomes even better. Living by this philosophy, the production of dishes at the Verdeja’s kitchen are both easy and tasty, always keeping a pleasant atmosphere around the table. Camila and her husband believe that using love to nurture is one of the best ways to practice and teach about a healthy lifestyle to their son. As much as possible, everybody gets involved into the whole process. It’s not just about preparing their meals or sitting together at the table, but also going grocery shopping, picking the best ingredients, advertising the recipe, cooking the dish and setting the mood to enjoy a real family meal.
Fun is a great way to bring awareness to the food, since it’s a good attention grabber, even for adults. Who wouldn’t want to sit for a great meal among friends, chatting and having fun all along? That’s why, depending on the day, one can find a food face on the plate, the recipe may be accompanied by a story, or even a toy may be the guest of honor. Or also, as in some days, the simplicity of just sitting together and talking about the day, being there and present, is all it takes to make it memorable.
That’s all it took to motivate Camila to start writing and sharing her experiences, trying to inspire parents that, despite their busy life, will always look for healthy options for their family. Gourmet Jr. also brings you the latest news about child nutrition, researches and interviews with a great variety of specialists.
Enjoy everything Gourmet Jr. has to offer, and post by post, we will help you build a healthy foundation for your children’s development.
